Discovery Voyager Interactive Activities
About
the project
The project involved collaborating with UNE Discovery Voyager to develop seven online interactive resources, including “What body part is that?” and “What bone is that?” activities aimed at anatomy exploration. Additionally, “H2Woah” engaged students in water-related experiments, while “Find a word” challenged them with word puzzles. “Planet measurements” delved into celestial bodies’ sizes, and “Solar system” offered an immersive journey through our cosmic neighbourhood. These resources were meticulously designed to be curriculum-aligned and engaging for virtual delivery, reflecting the team’s dedication to fostering curiosity and learning in STEAM subjects.
What body part is that?
This interactive activity provides students with an engaging opportunity to delve into the intricate anatomy of an ant. By dragging and placing labels on various body parts, students not only receive instant feedback but also witness the transformation of the ant into a beautifully coloured and accurately labelled specimen, enhancing their understanding of ant morphology and biology.
View the interactive activityWhat bone is that?
Similar to the ant activity, this interactive exploration delves into the skeletal structure of a Black Rat, offering students an immersive learning experience. By dragging and placing labels on different bones, students receive valuable feedback and watch as the skeleton transforms into a detailed and accurately labelled golden trophy, providing insight into the skeletal anatomy of rodents and enhancing their understanding of comparative anatomy.
View the interactive activityH2Woah!
This interactive activity offers students an enlightening opportunity to explore the significance of water consumption in a visually engaging manner. By dragging household items into a virtual water tank, students can observe the real-time depletion of water, fostering an understanding of the importance of water conservation and sustainability practices in everyday life.
View the interactive activityInteractive Taxonomy
In this innovative activity, students unleash their creativity by building their own unique animals. By swapping out different body parts and observing how they interact, students not only have fun but also delve into the fascinating realm of taxonomy and animal classification, deepening their understanding of biological diversity.
View the interactive activityFind a word.
Challenge your students’ knowledge with this classic find-a-word puzzle, themed around chemistry-related terms. With a range of challenging words to discover, this activity not only tests students’ vocabulary but also reinforces key concepts in chemistry, making learning fun and interactive.
View the interactive activityPlanet measurements
Take your students on a mesmerizing journey through the vastness of space with this interactive activity. By selecting different planets, students can explore a visual comparison of planet sizes and learn fascinating facts about each celestial body, providing a captivating insight into the scale and diversity of our solar system.
View the interactive activitySolar System
Embark on an awe-inspiring voyage through the wonders of the solar system with this immersive activity. As students select different planets, they are treated to captivating narratives and intriguing information, igniting their curiosity and fostering a deeper understanding of the celestial bodies that populate our cosmic neighbourhood.
