Teacher Placement Scenarios
About
the project
Students often demonstrate their readiness and assertiveness in class, seeking to engage in dialogue and assert their viewpoints. Recognizing this behaviour allows educators to maintain objectivity and understand that students’ challenges are not personal attacks. By anticipating such situations, teachers can prepare effective responses, fostering constructive communication and learning experiences.
In two engaging teacher placement scenarios, actors portray younger students experiencing classroom challenges. These videos serve as catalysts for student-led discussions, encouraging reflection and problem-solving. Shot onsite at the local high school, actors, including those affiliated with Drama Studies at the University, embody various roles, enriching the authenticity and relevance of the scenarios.
Actors, Lisa Goldzieher, and Julie Shearer synergised the script built on Ingrid Harrington’s academic framework of students challenging the authority of a teacher. Gabriel Hooper, Michael Partridge, Jackson Shoobert, and Iain MacKay were the film crew with Iain also directing and editing. Lisa produced and was in charge of continuity and location research.
