Yes, there are several limits and regulations that drone pilots must adhere to when flying on campus or anywhere else. Some of these include:
- Restricted Airspace: Drones cannot be flown in certain restricted areas, such as near airports, helipads, or other restricted airspaces. Campuses located near such areas may have restrictions on drone flights.
- Height Restrictions: There are altitude restrictions for drone flights. Generally, drones must not be flown higher than 120 meters (approximately 400 feet) above ground level.
- No-fly Zones: Some areas may be designated as no-fly zones due to safety or security reasons. Flying drones in these areas is strictly prohibited.
- Distance from People and Property: Drone pilots must maintain a certain distance from people, buildings, and other property. This includes maintaining a distance of at least 30 meters from people not involved in the drone operation.
- Visibility: Drones must be flown within the pilot’s visual line of sight at all times, and operations must be conducted during daylight hours only.
